Innovo's Manufacturing Cost Structure: Our book manufacturing and printing charges are based on the size of the book, the number and type of pages printed (color vs. black & white) and the type of binding and cover used (hardcover vs. paperback) and other factors. See our pricing chart to the left for specific rates.
Innovo Allows Authors To Control Their Wholesale & Retail Prices: At Innovo, Authors set their own wholesale and retail prices with the common sense requirement of covering their per book costs. However, one of our primary competitors requires their authors to accept the Publisher calculated retail price. For example, with a 300 page trade paperback book, our competitor requires a retail price of $17.99. This same size paperback typically sells in bookstores for about $14.99--so one could argue the publishers calculated retail price seems a bit inflated. Innovo, on the other hand, allows our authors to set competitive retail prices, while still making a profit. Continuing the same example with a 300 page trade paperback, an Innovo Author could set a retail price of $14.99 and a wholesale price of $10.99 and still make a net profit (royalty) of $4.78/book (i.e., $10.99 wholesale price minus $ 6.21 manufacturing costs = $4.78/book royalty). Ask any other publisher to provide these same variables for a single copy of a 300 page trade paperback and we think you will see Innovo's Clear Cost advantage.

Children's Book's & Color Books Guidelines & Tips: Innovo offers 3 Children's Book & Color Book self publishing packages: Innovo Classic, Innovo Pro, and InnovoBlockbuster. Note that Innovo's Children's Book & Color Book publishing programs are almost identical to our traditional paperback & hardback publishing programs,
- Children's books may have either black & white interiors or full color interiors. However, hardback covers are not available for books with color interiors.
- Pictures & graphics are the heart of many Children's books, and must be at least 300 DPI in resolution. Lower resolution images will not print well.
- Children's books with color interiors are available in these trim sizes; while Childrens' books with black & white interiors are available in these trim sizes.
- Children's books with color interiors must be formatted very precisely to print properly. Exact sizing and placement are critical.
- Pencil or charcoal sketches are difficult to copy and scan well. So be repared to spend extra time with such images.
- Innovo has access to a group of professional artists that specialize in Children's books. If you need artwork support, contact us for a specific quote.
- Innovo can scan your original artwork for you and place it into your book for $25 dollars/image (in addition to the package charge).
- If you already have electronic versions of your art work at 300 DPI or better, Innovo will reduce the per image charge from $25 to $15/image (in addition to the package charge). Note the original images must be provided in a size large enough for the trim size selected. While Innovo can resized an image to a smaller scale without losing resolution, we cannot (and neither can anyone else) take a small image and make it significantly larger without losing resolution--which means it may not print well.
- Innovo's image fees cover the extra time required to work with the author, reposition and resize images, and adjust text and content to fit the book trim size you select (i.e., for example, the images will be sized and placed differently for an 8.5x8.5 book than for and 8.5x11 book).
Innovo's Clear Cost Model Saves Authors Money: At Innovo, authors can take advantage of our very low printing costs. We call this our Clear Cost Model, which is transparent, simple and a great value for Christian and wholesome self publishers like you. The rates we charge authors for printing each of their books are clearly displayed on our web site for all to see. Our competitors use a somewhat complex discount structure based on the book's Retail Price--the retail price that the Publisher sets. That's right--in many cases the publisher actually tells the author what price they may sell their book for and then the publisher typically offers between 35% to 70% discount off the Retail price they establish. Of course this is a significant conflict of interest. And to get the 70% discount--the author has to spend thousands of dollars and buy 1000 or more books. Ouch.
